hoppy easters

Easter was so much fun this year!  We had just recovered from our second round o' stomach bug this season, so it was nice to be feeling better and be able to enjoy the holiday.  Elaina scored some pretty sweet Easter loot if Mama Bunny says so herself!  I don't know how I feel about the Easter Bunny.  Maybe it's just because my parents never did the easter bunny thing that I don't like it.  I never even knew the easter bunny "brought" other kids' baskets/hid eggs until I was around ten.  In our house we got baskets and did easter egg hunts but we always knew mom and dad did it!  Anyway...neither here nor there.  Easter basket loot included: new bathing suit, a Jake and the neverland pirates toy camera she was obsessed with from Target, her very own pack of SoftLips (she is always asking to put on my lip gloss), a book for church, bunny ear headband (regift from last year), and her dress and easter shoes.

 We don't have church until 11, so we had plenty of time to whip up a yummy breakfast.  We made He is Risen Rolls/Resurrection Rolls...tomato tomahto...call them what you will.  But, you wrap a marshmallow in a crescent roll and roll it in butter and cinnamon sugar.  Then you bake it and when it comes out of the oven the roll is hollow and the marshmallow disappeared!  Juuuust like Jesus' resurrection and they found the tomb empty!  I saw it on a blog probably five years ago and thought it was so fun!  I mentally logged it into my ridiculous memory and now that she was old enough to have fun with it, pulled it out of the old memory bank!  She had a ton of fun making them.  She had a ton of fun eating "marshameyows." But, she was slightly ticked when the rolls were done and the marshmallows were GONE! Come on mom, the marshmallows are the best part!!  haha!  Originally I had planned on doing it as part of family night the Monday before Easter, but that's when we were sick with the stomach bug so that definitely didn't pan out.  I want to try and make these every year though.  Not only was it a cute lesson, but the rolls were DELICIOUS!  They tasted pretty close to monkey bread/pull apart bread, only you didn't have to pull it apart obviously.

 Then we went to church and went to my parents house for an early dinner.  I love my mom!  Everything she does is always amazing!  The tablescape was complete with bunny+jelly bean place cards and the food was to die for, as usual.

Mimi and Papi put together a little easter egg hunt for the little miss.  She was the only munchkin in attendance at this egg hunt, so she was definitely loving all of the attention.  Houston's sister was doing the easter meal thing with her in laws, so Nana and Papi came to MY parents house to eat too.  Elaina loved having Mimi, Papi, Nana, Papi, and Gigi all in one place!

 After all the egg hunt and bubble fun, the weather turned CRAZY.  There was a random thunderstorm and HAILstorm for about 30 minutes. Hail on Easter?? Then it all went away and we drove down the way a little bit for another easter egg hunt with the Weaver cousins. The little kids looked for eggs on the half of the yard with the playset and the big kids looked for eggs on the half with the pool.  All the kiddos lined up in the drive way and ran into the backyard at the same time.  It was so cute seeing them all lined up!  Some genius dad thought it would be a good idea to throw an egg in the middle of the pool.  As soon as the kids ran into the yard, Kate saw the egg immediately and bee-lined it for the pool.  She jumped in, Easter dress on and all!
