Espana: el dia segundo

Well, we started off the second day in Madrid with a little breakfast from La Mallorquina. It was a little bakery in La Plaza del Sol. We got napolitanas which were delicious. We got cream, chocolate, ham and cheese, and lomo. The lomo kind of tasted like mexican chorizo, the cream was good but my favs were the ham and cheese and the chocolate one. These spaniards sure are obsessed with their ham!!
We didn't get to eat the napolitanas IN the bakery because my mom desperately needed her starbucks :) so we got it to go and ate it outside on the sidewalk at starbucks. They packaged it all up so nice and cute, with a little string too!

After breakfast we took a tour of the Palacio Real and the royal armory.

me and my mama walking around the palace grounds.

the gardens of sabatini right outside of the castle. These were gorgeous!

lunch outside at this really cute restaurant. our waiter was super nice.
we tried paella, lentejas (which was kind of like a beef stew), sopa de cocido (kind of like chicken noodle soup, without the chicken, but with a lot of flavor), cocido (kind of like all the stuff that goes in a stew but without the broth), callos a la madrileno (tripe, my mom loved it b/c it was like menudo, I didn't even try it b/c it looked kind of gross, I never liked menudo anyway), steak, and corvino. That was all for lunch!

after lunch we walked through the city on our way to the Prado museum.

mis padres sitting outside the Prado listening to a street musician.

we bought our tickets to the Prado but were going to actually go inside the next day.

but, we did go in the Reina Sofia!

to see Picasso's Guernica. It was pretty cool! So funny, you weren't allowed to take pictures inside the room where the painting was, but you could take pictures outside of the room.

That night my brother went back to his house to work on some stuff for school, so my parents and I went to dinner at a restaurant in la Plaza Mayor. It was so fun. The food was good, there were people walking around, musicians playing, and the weather was gorgeous!
