The next morning we woke up super bright and early to get on the road. We drove through Siguatepeque, another one of the areas Houston served in. We just did a quick drive by, stopped by the chapel, drove by the house he lived in and the little town square, then got back on the road to head to Copan

his house! so awkward. the guy that lived there was in his truck ready to leave! |
On the way to Copan we drove El Lago de Yojoa. It was a huge lake and absolutely beautiful.

| we drove through quite a few little towns with some awesome three-wheeled taxis |

| drove past some horses, some donkeys, some cows... |
After half the day on the road we finally made it to Copan. Our hotel was absolutely adorable. We were both obsessed with it. Houston found Hotel Terramaya on TripAdvisor and it was a win! The hotel had six bedrooms, was gorgeous, our room had an amazing view with a balcony complete with hammock. They had breakfast on the patio in the morning. I could go back right now.

After getting all of our stuff settled, we walked through the little town to go see the Mayan ruins.

love that man quaint little copan with cobblestone streets |
The ruins were amazing!! This part of the trip was definitely for Houston; he studied all about Mayan stuff in college. But, the site was huge. It was insane. You would look at a temple, then walk up the steps, get to the top and see a whole other section of ruins, and then you would do it all over again! It was crazy!

behind me is where we were taking the pictures above, then we climbed up a hill and there were even more ruins hiding behind the hill |

| loved being on vacay together |
After the ruins we walked back to town and stopped to get a little snack. Houston got some elote and this hot, corn drink. I got some (green) mangoes in a plastic baggie with salsa. It was dee-licious!! But, right in the middle of eating it Houston made some comment about possibly getting diarrhea from street vendors and it made me less than excited to eat the rest of it... Oh well. Don't worry, all was well!
That night we just walked down the street from our hotel and had dinner at this little bitty restaurant, with candles on the picnic tables. It was adorable. The only complaint was that most of what they served was American food, like they were trying to cater to Americans, but we both really wanted actual Honduran food. It was fun nonetheless. After dinner we found a Kobs and got ice cream then walked back to the hotel in the rain. Pretty dang good day!
