the dee eff dub.

This last weekend we took a little road trip up to Dallas.  Houston started school this week so we wanted to do something a little fun before life became crazy busy again.  One of my best friends, Kelley, just had a baby a few weeks ago, so we packed up and headed out to meet her sweet bitty boy.  She and Jonathan were nice enough to let us stay with them, especially with a brand new baby!  We had so much fun.  It was nice to just be chill for a change.  Weekends at home are never relaxing and always busy.  We just went to eat, hung around the house playing with babies, watched movies during naptime, it was the best.  On the way home I told H that my favorite part of the weekend was just laying on the couch watching a movie with him.  Why can't we ever do that at our house??

We left our house Friday night around 7:30 and got to Kel's house around 12:30.  I thought it would be perfect for Elaina since we left right around bed time! She would sleep the WHOLE time!  Right? WRONG! She usually sleeps great in the car too, so I don't really know what was up that night.  She just knew I expected something to happen! :) Just feels like whenever I count on her to keep her schedule it always ends up going to the exact opposite!  She finally fell asleep around 10 and was conked out for the rest of the night.

The next day we met up with Stacy and Kristen for lunch at Fuzzy's.  YUM. I could go for some chips and queso right about now...  Elaina got a little cranky toward the end of lunch.  I always say she only really cries when she is sleepy, and it's SO true!  But...she's been really sleepy lately :)  I think she might be going through a growth spurt because if we're home and I can just lay her down, she has been sleeping the day away!  But, back to the trip... after Fuzzy's we went to grab some sno cones!! My favorite!  And, the sno cone shack even had wedding cake flavor, which is the only one I really love, so they earned major points in my book.  Thank you Sugar Mountain!

both babes passed out on the way to the sno cone shack.  so cute.

cool dudes hanging out with their babies

bffl :)
After sno cones we just went back to the house to play.  Our little ones had a good time together. Elaina took over and promptly rolled over on top of Easton!  oops!  He took it like a champ though and just stared into her pretty blue eyes :)

this little bit is becoming a pro at bottle holding

That night Kel and Jonathan had dinner plans so we made our own Harris family dinner plans, complete with a mini road trip within a road trip.  There is ONE Costa Vida in the DFW area. It is totally out of the way from where we usually stay, so I never want to drag all my friends and family out there, but with a night to ourselves I made H promise to take me!  OH SO GOOOOD! Oh how I miss my pork burrito with mild sauce.  It wasn't as good as Cafe Rio, but it definitely hit the spot.  We even went back through the line after we finished our dinner to get some to go!!  It was quite the adventure to get there though.  On road trips we always take Houston's hoopty wagon because the gas is cheaper.  The only down side is that it doesn't have a toll tag.  My car does, but his doesn't.  We just don't ever need it in Houston.  But, whenever we go to Dallas we always wish he had one in his car.  It just doesn't ever cross our mind to get one until the second we would really like it.  Driving around that city without a toll tag is like death!!  We drove all the way to Costa Vida avoiding paying a toll.  It required some creativity and some patience but we made it and it was so worth it!
so excited for my din din!!
Once we got back to the house it was bath and bed for the little miss and the padres just hung out, watched a movie, and chowed down on delicious cake. My kind of Saturday night!

Sunday, after some more baby snuggles and some breakfast we were on the road again.

On the way home, Elaina was pretty great!  Except for a 30 minute stretch where she was not a happy camper. We wanted to wait to stop at Bucees, the mecca of all gas stations, because, well...it's just the best!  Houston's car was acting funny, the down side to driving the hoopty wagon on a road trip, and he wanted to stop at Bucees in case  he needed to fix anything.  When she started fussing I went and sat in the back with her but she wasn't having it.  So, Houston stuck his hand back there to try and make her feel better. The only thing that would keep our sweet girl happy was a binky, a finger from daddy, and a finger from mommy.  The second one of us took our hand away she would start crying.  Ha!  Talk about sweet baby manipulation!  It was hilarious and pretty darn cute!
After a long stop at Bucees, a nice stretch for baby, a potty break, some drinks, some car trouble shooting, and some free dippin dots, we were on our way!  It was a fun weekend with friends, doing a little bit of nothing!! Sometimes those are the best little vacations!
