Well, the month of March is again upon us, and in the city of Houston - March means it's rodeo time! Having been away for many years, we were not about to miss out on the rodeo this time around. I have so many awesome childhood memories of going to the rodeo and this year didn't disappoint.
I had already bought tickets for the rodeo for next tuesday as part of "birthday week" (H will be the big 2-7). But we ended up getting tickets for the rodeo this past Saturday and they were free! Can't pass up free. So needless to say, this year we will be going twice! Anyway, we got 6 free tickets for saturday, much much closer than the tickets I purchased, and we weren't about to say no thanks.

here we are enjoying our seats in Reliant Stadium

a little bull ridin. yikes.

my personal fav - mutton bustin! I guess this is something new because I had never seen it before. My fav is usually the calf scramble, which was still just as entertaining as before, but this was just adorable/hilarious. A bunch of 5 year olds suit up in helmet and vest, hang on for dear life, and ride on the back of a sheep until they fall off. Whoever hangs on the longest, wins. So freakin funny.

(I got this picture from the HLSR website)

Jason Aldean was the performer that day. Sorry to all fans out there, but I just wasn't feeling it. I don't dislike country, but I don't really seek out country music, so I just didn't know any of his songs. We ended up leaving the concert a tad bit early to go enjoy the carnival food!

on our way out of the stadium. aren't my boots super cute? I've been wanting to buy cowboy boots but they are so dern expensive. My mom surprised me when she said that SHE had boots in her closet. If you know my mom, this was a little shocker. She told me she only wears them once a year for Go Texan Day (which is also in March, duh) So, she let me borrow them. However, they're still in my closet and might stay there indefinitely ;)

yum.

H and his giant turkey leg and token souvenir cup. I bought a sausage on a stick for dinner. It was literally the size of my arm!

our little crew - our new buds nicole, zach, and roman & fo and sarah all joined us.

and for dessert...

fried oreos!!
They were to die for. I will definitely be buying more of these on tuesday! My thighs may not appreciate it but my taste buds sure will. Houston tried the fried snickers which were equally as delicious. Maybe tuesday we'll try something else too; they had fried cheesecake, fried tiramisu, fried twinkie, fried moon pies, fried cookie dough, fried m&ms, and I know I'm forgetting something!! Poll the audience: Tell me, what fried item should I try next week??
